Y2K TAKEOVER
One thing I love about fashion and style is that it is always changing. Far from a stagnant being, the fashion industry is a living and evolving entity. Recently, I noticed a new style taking the forefront. Fashion houses everywhere from Miu Miu to Dsquared2 are embracing the 2000s like never before. The revival of Y2K look is one of my favorite looks that I have seen in some time. I think that after being locked up in our houses for so long due to covid, people really want to have fun with their clothes. Below are a few of my favorite Y2K pieces.
Miu Miu Mico Skirt
Nothing screams Y2K quite like the mini skirt. The mini skirt was a staple on red carpets and in clubs all throughout the 2000's. Celebrities like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were frequently seen rocking this iconic look. Fast forward 20 years and Miu Miu has given the mini skirt a resurgence. Their playful take comes in a pleated khaki fabric, and is noticeably shorter than the already short skirts from the 2000s. This skirt was one of the hottest pieces when it debuted on the Runway in the fall of 2021, part of Miu Miu's 2022 Spring Collection. This piece has a cult like following and is quite hard to find, having graced the cover of basically every fashion magazine, it's no surprise why. There is one for sale on Vestiaire Collective currently listed at $2,000.

Dsquared2 FW23
Everything about the Dsquared2 FW23 collection is very Y2K. From the slogan t-shirts, to the oversized belt buckles, their show was one for the books. A rather tongue in cheek show, the looks represented the brands heritage and their DNA. The Y2K fantasy vibe is something that has been at the core of Dsquared2 since their creation. Without a doubt, this was one of my favorite shows of the season. It was incredibly refreshing to see a brand that was 100 percent authentically themselves. Below are some of my favorite looks from their mens FW23 collection. Given the success of this collection, I am looking forward to seeing what's next for this iconic brand.
Balenciaga Sunnies
Sunglasses have become a statement piece in a huge way, and few brands have created a look synonymous with the 2000s like Balenciaga. Inspired by sporting sunglasses of the early 2000's, their collection gives off strong Y2K vibes, or as Paris Hilton would say, "That's hot." Their sunglasses are sure to transform any outfit back in time (in a good way). One of my favorite pairs that the brand offers are the Skin Cat Sunglasses in Silver. These glasses are sure to be a conversation starter anywhere you go. I love them because of their versatility, these glasses have the ability to match with many looks. The light grey color means they will look great with any color you have one. Sunglasses are one of my favorite pieces to splurge on because I wear them all the time, and I hold onto them forever.

Final Thoughts
I am really looking forward to the coming collections from other major fashion houses to see if they partake in the Y2K movement we are seeing right now. Just the other day, Gucci brought back a handbag we haven't seen since 2003. Right now is such a fun time for fashion as designers are going into their archive to see what they can revive. I can't wait to see what's in store.
